F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) has a very admirable mission:
to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Ever since I was introduced to FIRST in 2009, through their FIRST Lego League program, I have been involved with this amazing organization in different capacities.
From mentoring to judging, from Tournament Director to Judge Advisor, any many more volunteer positions. I have had the privilege to working with 3 of the 4 programs offered by FIRST:
JrFLL (Junior FIRST Lego League) for ages 6-9;
FLL (FIRST Lego League) for ages 9-14;
and FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) for ages 14-18.

This has become a part of my life and my entire family is involved in it now. I have seen the many benefits of the program with my own eyes, and it offers many essential life skills.
